Beta to Beta Empty

Lloyd dragged a old buck he hunted back to the den. The pack was small and they had no hunters to go out and hunt for them so Lloyd took on the responsibility to hunt for the pack. What surprised him was the fact that he actually caught something since he was rather rusty at hunting. Maybe he was lucky that he found the buck half dead as it was left behind by its herd. Too weak to keep up. He hadn't felt sorry as he heard its last cries for help fade into nothing, he would live while the buck died giving him a second chance to live and hopefully for a long time. The black beast rearranged his hold on the dead elk's neck as he continued to drag it, he was mindful of the hide as he could use it for his bedding. It was better than sleeping on the hard packed ground of the pack's den.

It wasn't long before Lloyd reached the den. Stopping he dropped the animals neck and sat down, catching his breath. He looked around to see if Cherokee or Elijah were around and when he found no sign of them he shrugged before he ripped open the carcass. It was still warm, but it would soon grow cold. Scarlet painted the white snow red as Lloyd ate away, not really minding the mess he made. Laying down helped him get better access to the meat and more nutritious parts of the body, however it only made Lloyd look bloodier than he already was. When he had his fill he moved away from the bloodied carcass and began to groom his fur.

Before today Eli was a mere vanguard departing from his former pack. But suprisingly a day or so's journeying led him deep into the heart of Northern Frost, where he met their current queen Cherokee and her delta Lloyd - who was now deemed Northern Frost's beta male. The rank promotion was no surprise considering Elijah was also elected the second Beta male. Although this was uncommon, having two of the same sex within a rank, it appeared Cherokee pushed the rule aside - creating her own.

At first Eli did not think her worthy of her Alphess rank, but over time he came to admire both her skill set and rulebook within Northern Frost. The pack was no ordinary pack - as it held a history that dated back decades. Cherokee had yet to inform both Elijah and Lloyd of the stories, but Elijah knew over time she would share her knowledge and her past with them.

Elijah's arrival was during the colder season, and during this time all three wolves bonded - and the pack began to grow at a steady pace. Numbers now ranged from the starting three to around six plus members - few of which Elijah had yet to approach/introduce himself to. He would in time but for now, he kept himself close to the packs current den-site.

Stretched limbs followed by a half hearted yawn, The ivory male awoke from his peaceful slumber - only to see Lloyd dragging a deceased deer. Breakfast is served? Eli chuckled before nearing himself towards the ebony male - mouth agape, and ivory incisors crunched as he aided Lloyd with dragging their morning meal closer towards the dens entrance.

Upon dropping the carcass he watched as Lloyd took the first bite, and soon followed suit. Although fresh, it was chewy but this was most likely due to the buck being old, weak and ill. With a satisfied grin Elijah took his fill before gazing towards Lloyd. I appreciate the morning meal. But do tell me how you managed take down this buck alone, and without injury?

Concerned and slightly confused, Elijah awaited the males reply. Pondering over the whereabouts of their Alphess.

Lloyd looked up from his grooming when he saw Elijah walking towards him, he continued his grooming while his comrade ate his fill. It was until he spoke that had Lloyd give him all his attention. He pondered Eli's question not quite sure as to how he did catch the elk. "To be honest I really don't know. The elk was rather old and it seemed to be struggling. The herd left it behind and that's how I took my chance with catching it." Lloyd cocked his head to the side in thought when he was satisfied with the answer he provided he looked back at Elijah. "How has your morning been going Eli?" Lloyd was curious as to what his friend was doing while he was away. Surely he must have been bored that or he was asleep all morning. While he waited for a reply the obsidian colored male looked around the den area. It was well hidden and protected. Comfy and warm despite the snow and freezing air. The den was made in a big clearing surrounded by tall pines and spruces to help block the wind. Some rocks even helped keep out the bitting wind. It was spacious too an even better perk. The sun could always seep through the tree branches so it wasn't too dark or cold. Lloyd's gaze moved towards the dens entrance. The den was made out of rock and hard packed dirt. Despite how it sounds and looked uncomfortable it was rather comfy if you use the right stuff as bedding to avoide sleeping on the hard cold ground.

Birds chirped merrily in the trees as they sang their morning dogs, dancing in the air with their partner. It was a clam but busy morning. Finding a sunny patch of sunlight on a flate surface of a stone Lloyd moved towards it before laying back down and getting comfy. His inky black fur was groomed well as he warmed up and bathed in the sunlight.

Strangely enough the ebony male questioned himself regarding Eli's previous query causing the porcelain gentleman to crack a smile which grew upon his greying muzzle. Ears twitched as the obsidian male questioned Elijah's morning; Sleeping... That's all I seem to be doing as of lately. I'm becoming rather lazy. Cracking a second smile followed by a more curious expression Eli pondered momentarily before reverting his gaze upon the Beta.

One wouldn't think that the ebony male was older than Elijah, but he was - despite this he still kept his childlike personality which Elijah enjoyed. He always had so much energy! It reminded him of his younger self - when he didn't give a damn about anything. His mother changed that upon Elijah hitting maturity. Reverting back to reality Elijah kept silent and still as he listened intently. The den site was a peaceful place - free from corruption and war the think the gentleman despised the most. And to top it all of Northern Frost was well hidden within the midst of the frozen forests.

He watched as Lloyd manoeuvred himself - soon settling on a heated rock resting within the morning sun. Proud as he was there was still something missing. Just where was their Alphess Cherokee? She had been gone for quite some time now and Elijah grew concerned - she was able to take care of herself. But one question tortured his mind, what if she was lost? Or in trouble?

Cascading his crown upwards he questioned the Beta male again; Any idea where Cherokee might be? Did she say where she was going? Or when she would be back? He awaited Lloyd's response to his question regarding the whereabouts of their Alphess.
